Inbound and Outbound external email archiving and mail security:
Google Message Discovery supports any email server configuration for inbound and for outbound requires that the mail-server supports smart-hosting routing of outbound email to Postini.
Intra-domain or internal email archiving:
Google Message Discovery requires that the customer mail-server supports "envelope journaling", supported configurations include:
- Microsoft Exchange Server 2000, Standard or Enterprise Edition:

- Exchange 2000 hotfix for envelope journaling (870540)
- E-Mail Journaling Advanced Configuration tool (exejcfg.exe)

Historical Data Ingestion
Google Message Consolidation
As an additional service to Google Message Discovery, Google Message Consolidation allows the ingestion of historical emails from an existing email server into the Google Message Discovery archive. The service supports most common mail backup formats and is priced as a one-off charge depending on the size of message data ingested. There are no additional ongoing charges beyond those for Google Message Discovery.
